Future Planning
PLAN Edmonton believes that it is necessary for families to plan for the future of their loved ones in order that they may:
•Enjoy financial security by developing a plan
•Live in a house that is their home
•Participate in a caring & hospitable community
•Be supported by family & friends through loving relationships
•Have wishes respected and are ensured of making their own choices
•Be protected from abuse & exploitation
•Make contributions to their communities
•Have families who enjoy peace of mind
.
We offer Future Consultation Planning which involves the following steps:
- Creating a future vision for your loved one, including input from family members.
- Describing the personal network around your relative, identifying the people who will play important roles in the life of your family member with a disability.
- Identifying housing options, both present and those that may need to be created to best meet the wishes of your relative.
- Identifying contributions and gifts your loved one has to offer. Helping to recognize roles and capacities that are valued in society.
- Assistance in decision making to ensure that choices are being respected.
- Wills and estate planning to allow for financial security.
- Securing your plan by setting out who will implement the plan, monitor your loved one’s quality of life, and advise your trustees/administrators on his/her behalf.
